Bestor Plaza 2024 Upgrades
Factuality Rating: False
Claim:
I heard, as rumor not stated fact, that $600,000 was spent on the Bestor Plaza renovations. Unknown was whether this was all-inclusive (pavers, Bestor Fountain repairs, etc). What was the total cost? As someone who earmarked our Bestor Society donation for the Bestor Fountain repairs, what was the cost of this portion?
Summary:
Close to $1 million was spent on Bestor Plaza renovations. Approximately $450,000 was spent on the Fountain, which was primarily covered by two large donations from two families. The pavers were covered entirely by restricted philanthropy from two other families. The cost of the design and construction of the paver project was $493,900. The Institution spent operating capital funds to repaint and repair exterior building elements and to repair the smaller fountain in front of the post office. Repair and painting to the masonry columns at the Colonnade was also completed at a cost of $32,400.
