Is our trash collector really recycling?
Factuality Rating: Question
Question:
Do items put out for recycling on Wednesdays actually get recycled? It looked like a standard garbage truck picking up today and doing the usual crushing of the contents loaded. Also are there plans to add a recycling dumpster with the other dumpsters by the main gate?
Summary:
All recycling collected from Chautauqua Institution will be taken to Casella’s Material Recovery Facility (MRF) in Jamestown, N.Y. Casella’s Jamestown MRF has the ability to process commodities before delivering to end markets. Other commodities that cannot be processed for end markets in Jamestown are shipped to Casella’s Zero-sort processing facility in Stanley, N.Y.

We are not currently considering adding a recycling dumpster inside the gates, but there is a recycling dumpster available for property owner use at the back of the Green Parking Lot (enter through the Main Lot entrance on Rt. 394).
