Colonnade is (and has been) open for visitors
Factuality Rating: False
Claim:
The Colonnade offices are off-limits to the public
Summary:
Chautauqua Institution staff welcome patron visits to their offices in the Colonnade and elsewhere.
In 2020, the Institution implemented an electronic call box system (similar to the “Ring” doorbells that are popular these days) for accessing the Colonnade offices following advice from security consultants who recommended higher levels of security for our central administration offices. During the COVID-19 pandemic, we restricted access to the administrative offices for health-related reasons. Since 2023, those health-related limitations have been removed and patrons need only use the call box to contact the office of interest for access to the administrative offices. During the Summer Assembly, we also have a full-time receptionist in the lobby to assist patrons in accessing the offices during regular business hours.
We suggest making appointments to ensure staff availability when you arrive.
