How is gate pass revenue used?
Factuality Rating: Question
Question:
How is the revenue from the gate passes for young people ages 13-17 spent?
Summary:
Youth gate fees afford our young patrons access to the grounds and our programs, services and amenities. Youth 12 and under pay no gate fees; Youth 13-25 enjoy discounted gate pass rates. Traditional Gate Passes include access to programs in the Amphitheater, while the Grounds Access Pass covers access to the grounds and some programs. In total, gate fees cover about 80% of program and service expenses, with philanthropy and other earned revenue covering the remainder. Revenue from gate passes helps cover expenses related to Chautauqua’s lectures and classes, performing and visual arts, religion, and recreation programs and facilities as well as the services that make the Chautauqua experience possible, including transportation, library, safety and security, maintenance and housekeeping, lifeguards, program production, and administrative services, including human resources, information technology, finance, and marketing.
